If I were a Bengals fan, I'm not sure I'd be wild about this brainstorm

Kitna arguably most improved and some even whispered league MVP...

The Bengals morphed into the NFL's up-and-coming team last season, in Marvin Lewis' first stint as a head coach. A lot of it could be traced to QB Jon Kitna, who's numbers are comparable to what Tom Brady put up in New England. But with training camp set to begin, the team has put its faith in the hands of Carson Palmer, last year's No. 1 draft pick, to build on that success. "Last year, people questioned why Jon Kitna should be the starting quarterback, and he proved he was up to the task," Lewis said. "He had a good season -- not a great season -- kind of like our football team. This year, I feel strongly that Carson Palmer will be a better quarterback for us. I think he will allow our offense to do better things."

Kitna may have been an aberration last year.

Why take a Heisman winner at #1 overall and have him clipboard for two years? I think it was absolutely ridiculous and an insult for Palmer to not see any action at all in '03.

perhaps it was an aberration, or Kitna just grew up as an NFL Qb, he certainly could be starting for many teams...If Palmer starts out poorly the team could become divided...

I agree with Bubba. What good did it do to have Palmer sit all last season ? Now they have him as a rookie this year instead of having him get some NFL experience last season. I think Marvin Lewis wanted to have a "succesful" season so rather than throw a rookie QB in their and not win, he wanted o go 8-8 and have some job security.

bengals make stupid moves, what's new?

why draft a QB at #1 when most of the greats are late round guys (Favre, Brady, Montana)

but then, if you do draft a guy #1 play him for god's sake! I mean expectations were so low then it wouldn't matter if he had screwed some while learning.

now if he gets off to a bad start everyone will want Kitna in there.

crazy.

they should have stuck with Kitna and traded the #1 pick then got guys to fill other positions. QB you can survive fine with unheralded players. Delhomme, Warner, DILFER won a Super BOWL!!!

great point...most QB's that make it, are not top 3 picks...Unless its an unbelievable player like a Manning why draft him? When Cincy drafted Smith that high I could not believe it...of course anyone can be write or wrong but Smith was not worthy of that high a selection , and proved to be a complete joke....

Its a shame for Kitna, but I guess as a Bengals fan its good to have the insurance...
